We have both benefited from and continue to see the impact of higher education. Designating Sarah Lawrence College to be a significant beneficiary of our estate was important to both of us. Long after we are gone, we know there will be young people who will benefit from the unique liberal arts education and community SLC has always provided.

Jeffrey Engel

Jeffrey B. Engel '84 has come a long way since his student days, when he lived over the Pub, wrote fiction, served on the Student Senate, and challenged Vassar to a football game on Westlands Lawn. He's since gone on to a successful career on Wall Street and recently started a hedge fund that invests in commercial applications of blockchain technology.

When I started thinking about college, I had no idea where to start. Neither of my parents have college degrees, so they didn't know the first thing about the application process. But they came with me on every college tour, excited about my future, and Sarah Lawrence won us over within minutes of driving up to Westlands Gate.

Sarah Lawrence prepared me for a life of learning and curiosity, extending the greatest gift a young person can receive: the invitation to think flexibly and globally, beyond singular experience and self. I have many wonderful memories of the College, but it is this I continue to hold dear above all else.
